They don’t make pop videos like they used to!! Love this theatrical promo, Arnold Layne – the first single released by Pink Floyd. The song’s title character is a transvestite whose primary pastime is stealing women’s clothes and undergarments from washing lines. According to Roger Waters, Arnold Layne was actually based on a real person. “Both my mother […]
Final Project: Landscapes. I took a walk along a local nature reserve: The Burrow. It is a great place to go for a walk or run, and get away from the stress of modern life. To spend time in close contact with nature is always refreshing. My main reason was to just get out and take some photos as part of initial experimentation on the final project. Perhaps t […]

Cows in Field, Walter Frederick Osborne As part of my research into representations of the Irish landscape I have been looking at Irish Landscape painters and paintings. The local library is understocked on the subject, and while the internet is a great source of information, I prefer to read about subjects in depth from a book – I just cant read more than a […]
Continuing my research into the politicised aesthetic of Japanese film and photography in the late 60s, I have discovered (through the art of Eric Baudelaire) Masao Adachi’s ‘landscape theory’ as demostrated in A.K.A. Serial Killer – could this be a potential avenue to explore? Masao Adachi & Kôji Wakamatsu, both having ties to the Japanese Red Army, st […]
After deciding to continue my exploration of death for my major project, I’m delving into how we communicate with our dead. First up was a psychic fair in Ewell, Surrey. There was a wealth of different mediums (the plural isn’t ‘media’, as I discovered) in the community hall; I chatted with clairvoyants, crystal sellers, chakra doctors and aura photographers […]
In 1968 the Revolutionary Unions Movement (ROH) published a book “Going to the ROH recreation” summarizing the highlights of the subsidized recreational opportunities intended for the workers. Vintage photographs accompanied by hilariously lyrical captions chronicle the style and leisure habits of the era as well as the “team spirit” that has been encouraged […]
In February, I have been invited to participate on the exhibit of the Australian photo-based art magazine Excerpt issue #03 [http://www.excerptmagazine.com]. In reaction to the cover photo, slumbering men from earth, I decided to submit an image made in collaboration with my sister, 3D artists Helena Lukasova – a menacing woman from Mars. She is truly m […]
Five days have passed since the elections in Greece and we still don’t know if it will be possible to form a government. If no coallition government is formed by the 17th May, Greece must call new elections. You can read more about it here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-18030786 Personally, we had a great success as my husband was elected as a membe […]

Food photography is not an area I ever considered exploring, however, when my lovely wife set up an artisan baking business it made sense for me to develop some food photography skills to help her promote the business. I am still pretty much a food photography beginner, Ideally I would like to get a macro lens to get even better results, but for now I can te […]
The feedback on the project around Alex and the Stigma project was very good and the final piece can be viewed here.Alex pdfThe concept behind this 'net' is to show that there are a number of dimensions to Alex and that he should not be seen as just someone who has Aspergers. He is a remarkable fella who has developed coping mechanisms through the […]
This week has seen some good progress with 8% and I have two new assignments scheduled and that always feels good. I'm also working closely with Downs Syndrome Scotland to establish if we can partner on the book and our US based publishing adviser has reviewed the scoping document and feels the book will be a success.
Pure Extraction is an experimental multimedia piece from my Rethink project. You can read about the projects gestation on the project blog. You can also view reference images here.
i've always been an admirer of the frontal portrait - like the manet above or the arbus below. (posed/staged portraits will be an (a main?) element of my next project, of which i have a rough idea now.)it's the straight, clear, unfussy approach that i like about them. i also have the feeling, that in (modern?) photojournalism/documentary photograph […]
