Independent Dance

Last week I was invited by Independent Dance to take photos, at their professional morning class with Katye Coe, for their new summer brochure at Siobhan Davies Dance Studios in London.  Above, are some images from this shoot.

Independent Dance (ID) is an artist-led organisation providing a responsive framework to support, sustain and stimulate dance artists in their ongoing development as professionals. It provides a specialist and coherent programme offering opportunities to learn, deepen enquiry, share practice and exchange ideas as part of an interdependent international community.

Independent Dance

Images from Graduate Fortnight for a new brochure for Independent Dance, taken in the roof studio at their base at Siobhan Davies HQ.  The only brief was to show movement and to obscure the identity of the participants…..these are the results!

In collaboration with Siobhan Davies Dance, ID is developing its programme to foster greater international exchange, raise the profile of independent artists’ practice, and embraces opportunities that enable artists to interact with a wider artistic and cultural field and contribute to the growth and evolution of the art form.

Walking Piece | Matthias Sperling

Choreographer Matthias Sperling is creating a new commission for Big Dance 2012. Walking Piece is an installation performance in which 50 people come together to form a single file loop that continuously circumnavigates Siobhan Davies Studios. Performers are taking part in the creative process along with the choreographer to develop the piece. Audience members will be invited to view the work by moving along, around and among the performers’ circular route, encountering not only different events mapped along the route, but also each performer’s individual response to those events. Based on walking, the work will set up a close interaction between performers and audience members. This series of images were taken at yesterday’s rehearsals held at Siobhan Davies Studios.  The event is happening at 12 noon on Sunday 15 July.
